The Olde Walkerville neighbourhood in Windsor, Ontario

Founded by Hiram Walker in 1858, Walkerville is an area of the city, rich in history and charm.

For seven decades after its early beginnings, Walkerville began as its own town, housing those who were employed by the Hiram Walker distillery. Today, Walkerville offers its residents and visitors, beautiful parks, restaurants, shopping, entertainment, and seasonal events.

Living History

Willistead Manor

Within the perimeter of a beautifully manicured 15-acre park, this 36-room mansion is now a historical landmark used for weddings, receptions, and other special events. This beautiful building was built in 1906 and housed Edward Chandler Walker, the second son of Hiram Walker, and his wife Mary. The mansion is named after Walker's oldest son, Willis Walker, who died at a young age.

Olde Walkerville Theatre

Built in 1920, the Olde Walkerville Theatre has since undergone many facelifts to evolve with the times. From silent films, to sound motion pictures, to live theatre - Olde Walkerville has had it all within the same walls. The building has most recently converted into a venue for small local theatre companies, live music and special events by its current owners.
